President Obama says “We must end our dependence on fossil fuels”.

The disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has given President Obama an opportunity to push his clean energy agenda.President Obama is calling on Congress to roll back billions of dollars in tax breaks for oil. The President is also wanting congress to send him a clean energy bill that would help the United States end its fossil fuel addiction. President Obama said,”the country’s dependence on oil from other nations will jeopardize the United States security and pollute our planet.”
With the United States populus frustrated by the worst oil spill in the country’s history,this may be the time for all of us who believe cleaner energy is the direction we need to go to get involved.As I write this article the oil spill is 9 miles off the northwest coast of Florida. You have to wonder if the spill will end up going up the east coast of the United States.
June 1st was also the start of the tropical storm season and one has to wonder what will happen when a tropical storm hits the Gulf.

As of today the oil that has leaked so far, would take about an hour to use in the United States. You read it right just one hour! You can now get a glimmer of what the United States is up against with its dependency on fossil fuels.
Alternate and renewable energy cannot do it all but can help cut the dependency on fossil fuels. Renewable energy sources are energy sources that are continually replenished.
